Rail links

The railway came to Holsworthy in 1879, but it was not until 1898 that it was extended to Bude.

About that time there was great enthusiasm for railways and in about 1902 preliminary plans were made to lay down tracks from Bideford, skirting Clovelly and Hartland before turning south - serving Bradworthy with a station somewhere near Berridon Road - continuing until it linked up with the Holsworthy-Bude line.

A company was even formed, but the railway never materialised.

The Parish Council agreed that a protest be submitted from the Council in respect of the proposed closure of the railway passenger services from Okehampton to Bude. (June 1964)
